Because of my fourth child being born I decided that I would try and spend less money on knives to satisfy my addiction. Over the past month or so I have collected an Opinel 6, Kabar Dozier, Rough Rider Barlow, Case sodbuster jr with cv blade, and a Benchmade Monochrome. I have carried each of them for about a week doing everyday chores like cutting cardboard, cooking, yardwork etc, and to tell you the truth am very satisfied with all of my purchases except one. The Case has been sent back for repair due to excessive blade play. Hopefully they will fix it because I really love sodbusters. The Dozier is really the perfect shaped handle for me, it feels better in the hand than any of the other folders I own..period. If I could find a knife with better micarta or G10, a little better steel I would have my perfect folder. The RR is a great slippie for the money. It came razor sharp, but doesn't hold an edge that long. Fand F are in par with other slippies I own from Case and Queen. And my final purchase was the Monochrome. I own about 10 Benchmades and love them all for one reason or the other. I prefer the axis lock, but let me tell you, for the money this Monochrome is a solid knife. The framelock sits tight, the blade shape is good and it is light and comfortable to carry. All in all I set a $100.00 budget and stayed below it even with A mora I have been wanting. For me, I think I might have to stay in the budget arena for awhile!

We really are in the Golden Age of affordable knives. Good choices! Too bad about the Case my CV Soddie is perfect but my SS Sodbuster was sent back today for the bladeplay issue as well.

You've spotted some good knives. The Dozier folders remind me a lot of the Gerber LST's that I used to give away - both are really disproportionately great knives for relatively small amounts of money.

My personal favourite is the Boker Trance DP in this category. It has everything what I need in an EDC folder.

Those look really interesting! Some interesting designs, and not garish or overly ornate like a lot of cheap chinese knives. Plus I like how they are very up front about being Chinese, with a Chinese brand name, etchings of dragons, etc. There's something distasteful about knives made and distributed by Chinese companies with names like Rough Rider, US Classic, etc. even though I've heard they are decent quality.
