Hello, i was wondering if anyone had any good advice on budget kydex tools. I'd like to make a sheath for a knife i just made. I've been looking on amazon but i don't even know what im looking for. I just want inexpensive rivets and some kind of punch. Does anyone know where i can get these fairly inexpensively?
Thanks for the help!

try lowes or home depot

Tandy has a little punch and anvil rivet setter. Don't recommend using pop-rivets, but to each his own.

LOL :D the only reason i recommended it, is because what i understood from his post is that he wants it for one sheath and he used the word "budget"...anywhere he goes(that i know of) he has to buy the rivets in multiples of 100 pcs,and even on Ebay they are "pricey"
The first sheath i ever made(for me) had pop rivets...they held up better than the kydex(i used .060 for the AlMar warrior knife)

To be honest i have absolutely no experience with kydex and just wanted to experiment with it without pouring to much money into it. Can it be done fairly inexpensively? Or will i really need to buy nice equipment?

it can be done fairly inexpensive to start
Google "kydex tutorials" and go to Youtube and and search "kydex sheath making" ther is a ton of info for starters...

I got a couple of small pieces of Kydex from SLC. They toss a couple of sample pieces in with your order if you ask. I've read a million different ways to make and use a press. I bought a garden knee pad yesterday at the dollar store. The foam is closed cell and pretty firm. It probably wouldn't last long, but I'm only using it once, or twice.

If you're ordering from Springfield Leather anyway, ask for the sample pieces.

I've got 4 presses and they're all home made. Pm me and I'll get you a phone number and help you out with a few things to keep your cost down.
