Is there anyway to setup a fairly decent bead blast setup without breaking the bank?

I checked out some air compressors but what I saw in Sears said you need to buy a big pricey compressor to do any beadblasting.

You can try to grind a blade with a Dremel...but it won't go as well as KMG.
You can try and bead blast with insufficient air flow...but it won't work as well as 10-12CFM.

I see people buying a compressor first then the tools to go with it, and it makes some sense, but- it's backwards

Research the specifications of the tools you want to run so you can find what is the largest consumption of air.
Then buy a compressor that is larger than that.

If you mean knife blasting, I assume you mean a small cabinet type.

air compressors are measured in Standard Cubic Feet Per Minute
SCFM

Horsepower or the tank size in gallons are absolutely useless measurements
Standing and waiting instead of blasting is really a tick off, getting a bigger tank sounds like it would help, but it doesn't.

Yes it will cost you, either lower your expectations, or be prepared to pay more.

Looks like I'll be spending some big bucks, but not today. I'll wait a bit. This toy will have to wait a little!

CL is Craigslist.com . I check the "tools" and "free" section every morning while drinking my coffee. You can't believe some of the stuff people give away for free. I got some oak flooring from a house built in the 30s for free. Filled up the bed of my truck. Sold it for $250 to a furniture maker the same day.
