Buffalo Horn on Knives

I tried, but I couldn't wait any longer. I ordered my first GEC, a Northfield Big Jack in Buffalo Horn. I've been eying it for some weeks now, and just had to have it. Now I'm waiting patiently for it to arrive. All my other knives are Case and made from either bone or G-10. I know bone and G-10 is pretty durable from what I've heard and seen on here, but what about Buffalo Horn? Also, is there any special way to treat it and clean it, or will mineral oil work?

I'll make sure to post pics as soon as I get it.

Thanks.

Mineral oil won't help horn. Use a good paste wax, or neutral shoe polish.

You might find that it shrinks (or has shrunk) from the liners some. That is the case with my GEC #25. No big deal for a user.

ken hit it on the head about the bettles.do'nt know how they can find knives put away in knife roll but those damn bettles found a bruuckmann mint crocus polished whittler.i've seen many old knives & razors that had no shrinkage problem.going to have to figure how to store my g.e.c. horns that are not users.guess i wo'nt buy any more horns from g.e.c.thank you ken for the shrinkage info. foilist forgot to credit you for the shrinkage prob. with g.e. c.
