Hi , I purchased some type of horn was told it is buffalo horn (black) . Looks pretty good so far , I just started working it . Saw cut it to my basic size and starting to rough sand and shape . Question , when I get my final shape and sand should I rub it out ? I tried a test piece and rubbed it out with Flitz . Also final coating ? Some kind of oil ? Am I off base , should I be going about this different ?
Thanks , Mark .

I would ask a mod to move this to the Knifemakers Discussion sub forum for more luck with this.
Use the report triangle bottom left of your post. Good luck.

Sand horn to 400-600 grit, or buff with 0000 steel wool.
Polish on a buffer with green rouge, or "shoe-shine" with Flitz or Semichrome.
No oil- just a coat of paste wax.
