Bought some buffing compound from scheffields, the black emery for coarse cutting. I usually buy it from sears. This stuff from scheffields does not seem to cut as well as that from sears. It seems to have too much wax and not enough grit. Have you guy's ever ran into this problem?

I never use the black compound, just the green stainless steel cut and colour and of course white for wood. On the one occasion I used black emory cake many years ago I found it was no more effective than the green and besides it smelled bad.

i bought some white compound and found it to have the same problems. i use some blue compund that is for regular steel, works fantastic.
