Howdy folks, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction concerning places to look for jeweller's rouge and dark green chrome buffing compounds? I want to get some certain blades nice and sharp :D

(not exactly looking for internet sources, more along the lines of stores to look for)

Latro -

I found a carded set of four bars at Sears. The set includes Red, White, Brown (Tripoli) and an "Emery Cake" for heavy cutting of rust and scale from cast iron. The last, on a strop, might be interesting :D They had individual bars, but were out of stock on several, so I don't know about the green.

Check with www.brownells.com ,when you get there check part#080-508-000 it's a kit with five different polishes for around 12 bucks. There good people with good stuff.:)

Thanks for help. Sometimes you can find what you want at major auto parts stores and big hardware stores -- but you need to know what to look for.

There's several online shops and knifemaker supply dealers that sell the commercial size buffing compounds. There's enough in one of those bricks to last the average man with no buffer all of his life and then will be able to leave it to his children and possibly grand children.:)
One I believe is called K&G Knifemaker's Supply.
All seem to have their favorites and from what I've seen they all have good reputations which is absolutely neccesary in business and Especially so in the knife business where everyone knows everyone else.;):D

The commercial size bricks are usually about 1 1/2" X 2" or so and about 8"-10" long.  :D

Holy Toledo! Can I take them all?

PS: I know I'd be signing my own death warrant but what a way to go!!!!
