buffing cpm3v

well just found out that you dont buff cpm3v it just drags vanadium all over the blade i was up to 1500 hand sand before buff
so short of diamond past what can i do or should i just give up on the high gloss for 3v

I wish I had a bowing "We're not worthy" icon to post up here. I think you deserve one for having the patience to hand rub 3V to 1500 grit as it is! :eek: :)
 
thanks but now its back to 400 dam carbides and being so good at cutting :)
not sure how im going to finish the 3v blades i have yet to sand might just have to be a nice cork belt finish or light etch
dam you 3v dam you....... shaking fist in air :D
 
I could tell you how they polish S30V at Chris Reeve's shop but then I'd have to kill you. ;)

Your a very patience man, to try such a project. I have a 3v paring knife, that needs a little TLC from time to time. No high finish on that steel. The vanadium just does no let you have a consistant fine finish. The 3v steel on the my paring knife pits, its just something that requires a little maintance. With either a 3m micron sponge or 3m medium grits, scotch brite wheel.

i think im going to see how it looks bead blasted and etched lightly
