Buffing dust?

I wear a respirator when grinding, but not when buffing. Lately I've been wondering.... Does buffing create enough unseen dust to require a respirator? Has anyone ever measured how much airborne dust comes off a buffer? I know it can't be much, but I also know that the very fine dust we cannot see is dangerous. Anyone have any info on this?

Well I don´t buff much but one thing is for sure. It creates alot of dust. Take a look under one of your lamps and you might be able to see how much it is. I use a respirator all the time I use buffer or grinder. Also use it after they are turned off!

Buffing without a respirator gives me an asthma attack faster than grinding without a respirator. I don't go without for either now.
