Buffing INFI

I have some kydex scratches on an uncoated INFI blade and was wondering if it is possible to somehow buff or polish them out... properly, so that the appearance of the of the blade at those spots actually matches the rest of the blade, e.g. grain pattern, colour, etc.

Flitz? Metal Glo? 3M pads/scotchbrite? Something else? Nothing?

Is it even possible to polish/buff out scratches at all on any other steels? It's not such a big deal as this knife will become a user when spring and summer roll in, but I might be getting a new sheath for it that won't scratch it (leather or better fitting kydex) so it'd be nice to start with a virgin blade again.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Probably get a better response over on the Busse sub forum.

If it bothers you enough, you can send it in to the shop for a refinish.

I didn't know Spyderco was using INFI. ;)

It is not possible to remove scratches. It is only possible to remove all the steel around the scratch until it is all the same height. I have no idea what the finish on your blade is, so I can't suggest what to use in removing the steel to blend with existing finish.

This post/thread should be in Maintenance. I have no idea how it got here. Apologies if it was my error. Mods to the rescue?

What is the matter with you two? If a mod saw the thread, he'd move it. If he didn't see the thread, posting a request to move it in the thread itself goes nowhere. Do you think we scan every thread or even every forum constantly?

Hit the Report Post button and ask for a move, like one of the guys here did. THAT'S how I saw this.

Unless you plan on never using that sheath again I would say let them be. Its a lot of work for a little scratch.
