Hey everyone, I have recently completed building my B.O.B. The knife I currently have in it is the Ontario Pilots Survival Knife. I've started thinking about replacing it with my Gerber LMF 2. What do you guys think?

Why? The OPSK is a really good knife, by all accounts. I'd certainly take it over a Gerber LMF2. Full disclosure: I really don't like Gerber products these days, and can't understand the love for the LMF2, so your mileage may vary.

I'm curious what draws you to the Gerber? Is it simply the coolness factor of the design or something else?

Just curious.

Either way, get yourself a Junglas. How are you going to kill zombies with that little toothpick?

Every BOB needs a Junglas. :D

Well, I love Gerber, they make nice products but every company has their bad products. I myself love the LMF. I picked the Ontario because its been trusted for many years and by many people. I saw alot of 5 star reviews on it. Strong yet simple design.

Well, that Junglas is a little over my price range. I wanted a decently priced knife that could get the job done, besides why would I want to ruin a gem like the Junglas? Lol

Frankly either of those two would be very good BOB knives. I would probably also throw in something like a Mora. A nice light fairly thin knife of some sort that you can make and keep razor sharp. With a strong thick knife for the heavy stuff, it may stay sharp but won't stay razor sharp for very long. The LMF is way too heavy for what it is. I think other than that it is fine. I have one. It is my vehicle toolbox knife. And yes, I have a Mora in there too.

I prefer 1095 and no serrations. I had an LMF II but sold it--I just didn't find it as useful my other knives. If the LMF II had a full straight edge and was made out of 440C or 1095 I would probably like it a lot more.

Great idea HoosierQ, I have 3 knives in my bob currently, but it be better to put a Mora in there. I have a Mora Scout, would that be a good Mora to put in there?

Thats one thing that influenced me, the serrations. I dont partically like serrations. If I were to baton with the LMF, would it jack up the serrates? Or would it be tuff enough to stand up to it?
