What are everybody's thoughts on aftermarket scales for their Benchmades especially the Bugout? I love my Bugout but have been toying with the idea on getting some titanium scales for it. Is it worth avoiding the warranty for upgrading the scales.

Why would it change the warranty? Just put the original scales back on if you ever need warranty work. People take apart their knives all of the times for thorough cleanings, etc.

Aftermarket scales change the Bugout from a good knife to a great knife. I am not very fond of FRN / Valox, etc so admittedly I am biased.

My Bugouts have carbon fiber scales (I still need to sort out my mini). I have Wilkins titanium scales on one of my mini Griptillians though ... very nice but they make the knife heavier than it needs to be. I suspect the Ti scales for the Bugout are thinner and milled out more so it might not be as dramatic a weight change.

I’ve owned close on 60 Benchmade over 20 years or so and have never needed warrantee work - Voiding the warrantee is a non issue for me.
