Are the scales of the SMKW G10 M4 Bugout noticeably stiffer (less flexible) than the Grivory handled version..? Thanks.

You have a better chance of getting responses by posting this in tje Benchmade subforum.

Grivory is amazing stuff, basically a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic, very tough, resistant to practically everything. G-10 is also great for knife applications, maybe a bit stiffer but in practical terms little different in function.

Yes they are stiffer, but I wouldn’t pay the extra cash unless I was getting something like the M4 exclusives.

If the flexing is what bothers you, just get the “CF Elite” version. I believe it is stiffer, but also lighter. In any case, the grivory won’t break. It’s like jumping off a diving board: sure it bends but you’re not going to break it with normal use.

I have both (as well as micarta, CF-Elite, and aluminium). Yes, the G10 is stiffer. Whether that's a plus or not is up to you. I have seen G10 knives get scratched and even have small chips knocked out of the scale when they're dropped. Never seen that happen with Grivory, CF-Elite, FRN, Noryl, whatever you want to call it. If I could only keep one of my Bugouts, I'd stick with the CF-Elite & S30V edition. It's the one I'd carry with no concerns about when and where I used it.

I do not have that version but both the CF-elite and G-10 version I have are

I agree, that's my favorite version too. I just wish they would make one with the CF Elite scales and a non-coated blade. I also really like Benchmades S30V and with this blade profile it shines, very easy to sharpen and holds the edge well.

The CF Elite is definitely the one to get, unless you want to pay fir aftermarket.

G10 is a little slippery for me. Grivory has flex.

The CFE scales on the bugout are my favorite fancy plastic scales. They were more rigid than the stock ones and iirc had a better texture as well (don't quote me on the texture part, that's just what I remember thinking back to when I handled them both quite some time ago). That being said, I still got aftermarket scales for it anyways since I still prefer g10/micarta and deathgripscales does great work.
