Bugs

I'm thinking of getting a couple of guinea hens for my place. They are tick-eating machines.

I'd like to find a little bivy with bug netting.

I picked up a sheet of Equinox mosquito netting at the end of the year last year that I haven't used yet, planned on just using it to seal off the entrance of whatever shelter I happen to be using. We'll see how it goes.

One thing I love about living in Sequim; with 17" annual precipitation and summer highs usually in the 70's there are very few obnoxious insects. I'm outdoors quite a lot and in 4 years have been bitten by mosquitoes twice.

With summer coming on some concern about bugs is appropriate .The link shows that Lyme disease has been around for at least 5000 years in Europe !
The continued investigatsion of Otzi is fascinating ,I wish we could have talked to him back in the 'old' days.

This is interesting.

Since I first heard about Lyme, I've wondered if Rheumatism was confused or blamed for Lyme. Rheumatism was a common complaint among old folk of my youth and a complaint relayed to the old folk by the old folks in their youth. Having blood kin in the North East before this was a country made me wonder with this history of woods people if Lyme was always here, just called something else.
