Build Quality of Vantage Pro?

Hello

Methinks that I remember a recent thread that showed an internal view of the Vantage Pro series. If I recall correctly, the pins were rather flimsy looking. Should I pass on this knife or go for it? Specifically looking at the S30V Small version.

Thanks

I have one and like it very much.
It's not built as robustly as maybe a Zero Tolerance, but does it really need to be?

I find mine works plenty good. They did an excellent job on the blade.
Mine measured 59.69 HRC. The hollow ground blade is a great slicer.

edited to add: I have the Large version.

I love my 4... Although I have the larger version, they are all great! I had a smaller one that was perfect on fit and finish, just a tad too small for me.

I have the small and the large pro versions, as well as four selects. The small one is my favorite, it is the perfect size for me. The build quality is excellent and it is very lightweight. The large one would be better for hard use, but for edc, the small one is built just right.

I believe the only quaility issue on the Vantage has been control, by missing many first productions going out with off center blades. Other than that, I cant speak highly enough about the rest of component and production quality.

IMO the Vantage Pro is a very good EDC. I wouldn't use it for cutting sheet metal, but for normal every day things I don't think it will fail. I have the 347. And the price is good.

I've owned the large Pro (sold it to a coworker and wished I had not) and currently own the small Pro. Both are beautifully manufactured and a real value especially for an S30v bladed knife.

The small Pro a little small for my larger hands but it's ergonomics coupled with the quality steel, excellent heat treat and superb grind make it cut like a larger knife. Overall go with the large Pro or heck, buy both. Either way you'll be getting great value for your money.

I have the large one, forget which version but it's the middle cost wise.

I like it a lot. Been EDCing since I bought it about a year ago. Has held up great, stays wicked sharp! Great buy for the money!

My Vantage Pro has been my EDC now for several months. My EDC for
many years was a Benchmade 710 or Spyderco Endura. I've never felt
with a "lesser or unsafe" knife carrying the Pro. I absolutely love it. Even
after 2 months of cutting cardboard, and sticky tape, and numerous other
items, it's still sharp enough to shave with. Mine locks up with an audible
click. Very impressive, especially in the price range.
Regards Sonny

Apparently, some of the Buck Vantage Pro models have had some issues with blade centering and with the tip of the blade contacting the internal spacer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9A8iAVIOErE

According to the response that I received from Buck (July 12, 2010), "Any date of Manufacture (for the Buck Vantage Pro series knives that were affected by these defects) after March 2010 will have the corrections."

Would be interested to hear feedback/verification from anyone who has a Vantage Pro that has a manufacture date of March, 2010 or later.
