This is really sad... :(

I went to the new Buck site to check prices on some of my Custom 110's...and went to the "Build Your Custom Buck" and checked Folding Hunter...The only choice for a custom blade steel was S30V (besides 420HC)...There were about a dozen "handle" choices, but Sambar Stag option was $144...

The total price for a knife I have in my hand right now was $237.50...

It took me from 10:27am to 10:37am to get the page(s) loaded just to check that *one* knife...

I'd like to update my homeowners insurance, but with that kind of lag, I'd still be loading pages in Jan 2010...

Yes, it's beating a dead horse...but IIRC, a certain Buck executive said it would speed up when the site was up and running and the bugs were ironed out... :p

I don't have my old post on connection speed handy...but I think it was 10 minutes way back when it first appeared...

The good news is, my browser received no error messages, and I was able to guess where to look fairly easily...

The bad news is, at those prices, eBay and Navajoprincess2b will be getting my business this year...

Trax, it loads right up for me within two to three seconds, so I don't think it's a problem with the Buck site per se; what browser are you using? Yep, I saw the same thing with the blade options as well; bummer. :grumpy: My guess is that they are using up all the old upgraded blades they had in stock and that we may see some of the new steel that CJ has told us about available as options in the custom shop as well. I haven't seen navajoprincess list anything for some time now; am I missing something??

That's strange. I just went to the Buck site and went through all the steps to build and order a custom 110. I was at "checkout" in less than five minutes total, from the time I entered Bucks web address. Of course, I didn't spend alot of time making the decisions about the blade, handle, etc.

I'm on a dial-up connection using SeaMonkey 1.1.7 (a Mozilla derivative)...

I don't know what the fancy graphics are that take so long (Flash maybe?), but it's that whirling little clock thingy that takes the time to load...

A simple pic would be nice...IIRC, the majority of this country is still on dial-up; in UK and Europe the percentage is like 75% broadband...dunno why they have so much higher rate...

There's one other thing now that I think about it. I also use a laptop part of the time and even though it's still here at home, I can't get it to load the custom shop stuff. It might if I waited long enough, but I ran out of patience and went to my other computer when I ordered mine (a couple of weeks ago). There must be something lacking in my laptop and it could be the same with your computer.

What??? You mean a 1.4gHz PIII Tualatin-S and 512 MB of SDRAM isn't enough??? Running on 98lite??? :D

Seriously, everything loads...just real slowly...

But that's OK...eBay auctions load quite quickly...like in 10 - 12 seconds... ;)

Navajoprincess2b hasn't listed much lately...Nothing at all listed today...maybe 334dave knows why...

College kids heading back to school around here and chewing up the bandwidth on facebook & gaming...???

...You left out porn...Streaming sexy videos of cheerleaders...and milfs...Go down to Pirates Cove; it's full of them... :D

rummer has it some changes or additions may come about
Sarah has not announce any but i heard she has idea's
humm with the lap top i notice no more lag then before here
but me is faster then 95

chickentrax, 512 of ram is never enough. Find out what is the max for your mother board and put in that much. I assume you are using windows 98 and that could be another problem as it is not supported anymore. Do you have the latest flash drivers? Computers are a great buy now and don't be afraid of Vista.

I Beta tested Vista; still have the RTM release here somewhere. I use 98lite because it has the smallest footprint of all. Vista is too bloated. I just deleted Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP because I never used them (4 HDDs on this PC). I use Windows 2000 SP4 for my media/graphics work. Those PCs have more RAM; this VT6X4 is limited, but with 98lite I don't need it. Latest Flash is installed. I've been bidding on several good laptops on eBay; always get outbid. I have a low ceiling. :p

Hey, if you guys are interested, the Public Beta of Windows 7 is out...

Windows 7

I've heard good things about it...and I'm expecting it soon... :)

The problem with Buck's website is that it's just plain clunky. It was clunky a year ago before they revised it, and it got clunkier after the makeover. Cleaning up the javascript or flash or whatever geegaws it uses might help a little bit with loading time, but it still suffers from being not very intuitive and overly complicated.
