Take a 20 in window fan,on the intake side duct tape a home heating filter,(the hepa type).
I tape a cardboard cover over the filter with 1 in holes cut in it,just a sq. with 4 in walls.
Set it up so it rotates the the air around your shop and put the unit down wind of your griders, bench, ect.

I change the filter as soon as I can see dust on it,less messy to change.

You can get the fan at any kmart ect and the filter at most home/hardware ,ect.

Hope this will be of help.

NOTE:
this is only for the fine dust that dosn't
get picked up by the dust collector.
Its not to replace a dust colection sys and respirator, Just a little extra to help to save your lungs.

That may eventually clean the air in your shop, but not until after you have had a chance to breath whatever particulates are floating around. If you are concerned about preventing the inhalation of harmful materials, you have 2 choices. Either exhaust the harmful material at the source and direct it outside, or wear an appropriate respirator.

Good sugestion!!! As above the air will get to yuo first then the filter. To improve your system as several filters in a row .. you will catch more dust..
