Looking at 'who's the Hardest' thread and seeing Mrs Canterbury lead me to see Dave Canterbury videos on YouTube
I had only seen him burn gunpowder in to a self inflicted wound and was not impressed!!

But I have just spent time viewing his Building a Discount Bushcraft Kit series
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAPNtca7RGQ&feature=relmfu
A great set of videos of how to equip yourself for less than $100

Well worth the viewing

In the late 70s I took NYC inner city kids camping in the Catskills
I also had them do it on the cheap
US surplus was flooded in the market and really so good and cheap was easy to do

Nice to see these videos now, where the complexity of the market has taken over

That is good common sense stuff
Im building a few emergency kits using the same principle , some people I know who have expressed concern at not having any idea of where to start preparing "in case" I managed to get 4 kits done at a little over $25 each with a first aid kit , torch ,knife, emergency blanket x2 , whistle and compass packed in a bumbag .
I figure its a start for single parent and child , with plenty of room for upgrading and expansion as they see fit .

I just got done watching more of the videos....this is a great series..very informative and chock full of info...thanks again!!!!!!
