I just had this drop off at my shop. It's made by Prentiss, New York. It has 53-93 on one side of the face. Any idea what the 53-93 means????

No ideas, but thats a beast, lol, nice haul....
Looks more practical than mine...holding a blade with one foot pinning it to the doorstep...lol....

Those numbers are the address you need to send that too using pre paid freight! But you can substitute my address if you want.

IG, if you do a google on "Prentiss Vises", you will find they are a turn-of-the-20th century company who are long gone. That is an old vise, and highly regarded. They are known as "chipping vises", whatever that may be. Perhaps welding?

Anyway, there is one link on ebay that describes a Prentiss vise as a Model 92. that would suggest that the number has to do with model. They apparently made some LARGE vises.

I would suggest you ask this question either at Anvilfire or PracticalMachinist.

Very cool piece!

Thanks Fatzo!!!!! Your the man and the rest of you guys:jerkit: :jerkit:. Thanks for your non-input. ;) ;) HEHEHEHEHE!!!
