I recently purchase a Bulldog "doctors knife". I am kinda dissapointed.
The grind lines are uneven on the ricasso, the spring and back of blade which meets the spring are very rough in grind, doesnt look like they were buffed smooth. The walk and talk is fine, and the knife blade is polished well. Handle fit and finish is fine too.
I was expecting more out of this knife,
Was I wrong ??????????

I collect them (Doctor's knives) and have several antique and current factory versions. I was dissapointed with one batch of Bulldogs in this pattern also.

I purchased 10 in the early 90's of various handle materials. There have been several re-issues since then, but those 10 made me "knife shy" as far as the BD doctor patterns. I have other Bulldog patterns (old and new) that I am very pleased with as well as a more recent bone Dr. that is very well made.

I too own a number of Bulldogs, but none in the physician's knife pattern. Mine are all excellent knives; guess they just havent got that particular pattern down, for some reason.

That is just too weird. I have the BullDog brand Seahorse whittler and it is one of the most awesome ones in my collection for fit and finish as well as blade steel. The little take apart knife I have is also very impressive. Makes you wonder why one is superb and the other pattern just not quite up to par. Sounds like someone dropped the ball in a division of the company.

I hae one other bulldog in a stockman with pearl handles, now its perfect in everyway.. I cant figure ? This doc knife was suppose to be one of 30. I was hoping for good quality all the way around.
