Can anybody tell me what the difference is between the old Bulldog brand knives with the fighting dogs stamped on the tang and the new ones with two dogs' faces satmped on tang? Are the new made in China? Thanks for any help, Mike

The new ones are still made in Germany and imported and sold by Jim Parker in Tenn. They are good quailty knives; I have about 40. Jim bought the brand name about mid 1990s, and I feel the quialty is still very high. If youy get his catalog and buy from him directly, then the prices are almost wholesale!!

I have been very happy with the little take apart folder and a Seahorse Whittler style one I bought for what I considered to be very good prices. The Seahorse was less money than a comparable Case Seahorse. The BullDog Brand has carbon blades that actually cut and keep an edge and the fit and finish as well as the overall quality of this German made BullDog was so nice it makes me want to get more of them. If they are all like the two I own whether old or newer stamping I'd not worry about it. I do not recall ever reading of any made in China. I think they are all still German made.

I have a few of the "new" Bulldog brand knives and I like the quality. I don't have any of the originals for comparison though.

Jim Parker passed away a while back and his son James is running the business.

This Stag and Carbon Steel Buuldog Copperhead is from 1998. Quality is really great.

Parker's Knife Collectors service is the massive seller of Bulldogs. Their prices look pretty good, and many of the patterns seem to be made in relatively limited numbers.
