Even though I probably shouldn't be buying another right now, when I saw this 1993 Bulldog copperhead listed in the exchange last week, I immediately sent a PM to klineh saying I would take it, if still available. It was, I did, and Saturday's mail delivery brought it to me. As I mentioned elsewhere, 1993 is when I finally completed graduate school, so this is a nice reminder of staying the course (even when it did not seem the end would ever arrive).

At 3.75" long and 0.5625" wide, it is a bit larger than I usually go for, but I am enjoying using it.

Following some food prep today, it is beginning to look like a user knife (although the initial patina is a bit hard to see in these photos).

I really like the look of this green jigged bone, and the heart shield is a nice bonus!

It's a smokin' hot knife!

(Okay, actually my lens had just fogged a bit, coming out of the air conditioned house into the warm, muggy air that remained after this morning's stormy weather).

Now that I have a copperhead, that only leaves the canoe as a pattern I want to, but have not yet tried.

Great pics Doug, nice pattern the Copperhead

Very nice Doug, I like the match strike pulls, and I'm a sucker for green bone, looks great, plus with that shield you can always convince your wife that you " needed " it, it reminded you of the everlasting love you have for her :-)

Doug - be very careful. Before you know it you'll have 3 or 4 of the Case variations :)

Good bone on that Doug, at first it reminded me of one of your re-handled knives from Glenn.

It looks similar to my Böker (not surprising) Copperhead in Grand Canyon Bone. However, the Böker has same side nicks, the Skinner blade with crescent nick in front of the master Clip which has longpull so no problems with opening. I much prefer the Copperhead over a Trapper and I particularly like my Queen single blade D2 in Amber Bone. A solid pattern and a bit overlooked I feel.

Thanks, Will

It is similar to that old Camillus, Will. Let me see if I can get some decent shots of the two green bone knives together.

Here are a couple quick shots. Not the best light, and some glare due to the afternoon sun, but you can still see the different shades of green bone.

Ah yes they are quite different. But, I like green knives it often looks really good on Traditionals. Thanks for those pix.

Oh, I've already got one of those! I bought a Schrade Heritage jack from Paul that has 1986 on the shield (the year we were married).

Good idea though. She brought this one in from the mailbox Saturday and when I opened the box she fell in love with the green bone and heart shield. Fortunately, it is a bit too large for her to claim as her own (as she did a recent Buck Solo I purchased from my son's Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse store).

ETA: Mark, fortunately my budget prevents me from even looking at the old Case copperheads!

My favorite pattern for pocket carry. The double springs give just enough width to give a good solid grip for heavier work with out being too bulky. I can't stand a knife so thin it custs your hand while you are cutting something else. I wore out a Boker cracked-ice Celluloid CH; it finaly broke a back spring. Now it has entered celluloid hell and is slowly mummyfieing into another stage of existence, a pupae from which will emerge a Case peanut perhaps. Currently I have a yellow handled German Eye CH that I love.

Hey, glad to know that one's seeing some love! :D

I really wanted to hang on to it, solely on account of the shield :)

Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing.

Jon

I love this so much Doug. I'm really taken by the pattern as I have said before, and have been hankering for a less 'budget' (but very well made) offering than my Rough Rider.

I really look forward to seeing this one develop more and more character over time.

Enjoy.

Scruff, you should look into getting a Böker (Germany) carbon model. Mine came from the Bay and was not expensive, very good quality finish and they come in a few different bone choices. Böker offer a decent knife that competes with the American traditionals.

Regards, Will

That's a beautifull Bulldog.
I have a Boker copperhead with blue bone covers. They bled die for a long time, very annoying.
I promised myself to get stag next time.

Thanks for all the comments folks, this Bulldog is a good one for sure.

I was back and forth on one of these for a while. The beer barrel handles really appeal to me, and as I said earlier I like the copperhead configuration. But I did not get one simply because I thought I would not carry a knife this size very often.

Well, this Bulldog has been in my pocket every day since it arrived. It will get a break today, as a series of meetings require I dress a little more formally (which means a lighter, smaller knife in my pocket), but it will not sit in the knife box very long.
