Bulldog steel?

I bought a beautiful stag Bulldog Copperhead today and the dealer was fairly sure it was carbon steel, but it doesn't say for sure, does anyone know if there is a way to tell at a glance if a Bulldog is carbon or stainless?

The blades are stamped 1998.

I gotta say, this is my first Bulldog, but it is a real stunner. I will try to put pictures up tomorrow, the stag is just awesome and the fit and finish is perfect and the blades really snap.

In my experience with newer Bulldogs, if it doesn't say "Surgical Inst"...rostfrei...or have the capital R, it is carbon steel. The carbon blades are also much easier to strop on the back of a legal pad.
You can always do a quick patina test on one of the unetched blades as well. Just wipe the patina off quickly with Flitz or Mother's or the like, if you don't want it.

Good luck...hope it's carbon...

Thanks, it doesn't have any of the marks you mention so I hope it's carbon. I am still in awe of the stag on this one.
