Received my pair of "sidewinders", and, as I feared........Zamakrap!:barf: Well there is one good thing about these, they do not have a chrome plating, (not mine at least) in fact, they could possibly be polished pot metal! Definately cast, looks like the die-cast metal they used on our old matchbox cars! Some pits and voids in the metal everywhere (on the scale of small) but for $38.00 for the pair, not too shabby. I'm just glad they are not chromed!:barf:

Yep, they are cast, but I dont think mine are Zamakrap. I popped off one of the inserts to look. There is some slight rust on mine near the ends of each insert. They look to be either cast iron or at least cast steel. I think the could be drop forged stainless steel, like the el cheapo hand tools from the PRC. Still, $ well spent. I won't buy another mind you.

Pot metal would oxidize and turned grey very fast without some sort of coating. Usually its coated in a thin layer of copper and then plated with nickel. If your handles are polished I would say they are not pot metal.
