Went to a gun show today. I always enjoy perusing the bumper sticker displays, and I think that I now have a new all-time favorite.

"I ain't risking a $25,000 truck for a 28 cent cat!"

Once, at a Foley art show where I was a vendor (Turned wood items - including pens.), I was going back to my truck for my cooler of pop when a rather haughty older (Probably my age...) lady (Being generous...) spied my 'Alabama Wildlife Rescue' bumper sticker on one side - and a 'Piss Off a Liberal - Buy a Gun!' sticker on the other side. She asked me if that wasn't a dichotomy. I said no, I was born a man. Then, when that went over like a lead balloon, I explained that I loved animals - and carried firearms for protection from people.

Actually, I do love cats... or did - one pal I recently lost after almost 14 years - Casper.

I would avoid a cat as much as possible on the road - but not to put another human at risk. Okay, not to put my Jeep at risk, either. Maybe a Yugo... no, definitely a Yugo - probably a Ford, too!

You missed my Casper eulogy at breakfast, Mike. I may have to honor his memory by eatting at 'China Luck' for lunch today. I hear the specialty is 'Kung Pao Meow'...

My favorite bumper sticker was on an old battered hippie station wagon with stickers from everywhere all over the back and side windows, parked in front of my building in New York City. Bumper sticker said Split Wood, Not Atoms. Yeah, right.

Never saw it move for a couple of weeks. Then one day, I came out and saw he was getting ready to pull out, spewing thick smoke from the tailpipe, then leaving a trail behind him as he rattled up the street. Looked like he was burning wood for fuel, the idiot.

My all time favorite:

"Your honor student is merely a pawn in my Doberman's World Domination Plot!"

Tee-hee!

Man, I hope this doesn't turn into another "cat haters" thread. We have a cat that came to our door starving 12 yrs ago and it has been the best pet ever.
I try to avoid all animals cat, dog, racoon, possum, etc, equally, to the point of not getting in an accident. I have no perticular animal rights agenda, I just don't like killing animals for no reason. Now, misquitos are another thing, kill all those you want, please!

Quite frankly, I don't see why this is in the Busse knife forum, there seems to be a lot of Off Topic posts lately here that don't seem to belong.

The best bumper sticker I ever saw was "Admit nothing, deny everything, make counter accusations." I've lived by those words ever since!

I actually hit the brakes to avoid a cat this week and spilled my beer! 23 cent cat...dollar beer...hmmmm. Squirrels, rabbits, 'possums... I use them to grease my wheels and I sure as hell wouldn't spill a beer for one!!!

Casper was my pal for nearly fourteen years - always an indoor cat. The picture was taken about a year ago. He was going after my camera's dangling lenscap, thus his rising paw. He regularly 'helped' with my bill paying - making me often void checks. He would toss stuff off the desk so he could lay down - or just lay on the keyboard - enjoying my screams. He was an aggravating jerk - I know, my wife reminded me regularly how he was 'like his owner'. Of course, even a flame point Siameese - like Casper - who would come when you called him - doesn't have an 'owner' - they have 'staff'.

He came to bed with me that last night - curled up by my face - I am allergic to him, so I take chlortabs to survive - a benadryl to sleep (And he becomes allergic to me a couple days/several times a year - took a quarter tab 4X a day!). He also took 'Cosaquin' Rx for his arthritis. He got off the bed - started hacking up a hairball - and had a stroke. I see him everywhere in this house - I will miss him for a long time.

Sitting barefooted at the desk one morning, he pushed a KaBar off the desk - it landed between my feet, thankfully disturbing nothing on it's way down. He was a jerk - but I loved that cat.

Sometimes around here it is more like “I’m not risking my $1.00 cell phone call for a $6,000 bicycle and its rider”.

Cats are too cool:thumbup:

Dang Tony... you know you can buy something with a motor for $6K! :D

I have said many times that when my legs are so old from advanced age and abuse, that I can't ride, I'll switch over to a motor.

But there is a guy in this area that is in his mid-70s and still moves along very well on a bike. In fact his legs look like he's a 45 year-old man:thumbup: Well a fit 45, not a guy like me. :o

Sorry for the lose of Casper, I lost Nik last April (she was 18), like you said, I still see her everywhere in the house, and continue to miss her. Even the dogs noticed her absence for quite awhile.

sad sad story.

me and my GF got 2 cats, one each, if my Hades died i wouldn't be able to tell up from down, i would go crazy from missing him.

funny thing is, i did not even want a cat to begin with, and despite all the mess they make, i can't stop loving them!

You and Casper are in my thoughts, i am sincerely sorry for your loss.

If it's a possum, rat, squirrel, rabbit, skunk or any other vermin,I'll do my best to try & avoid hitting it.Dogs & cats are another story.I WILL slam on my brakes to avoid killing such a beautiful creature, regardless of what others think.
Come to think of it if you weren't tailgating, you shouldv'e had plenty of time to stop.

I once ran over the back end of a cat(squashed flat, but still alive)& I was so distraught at the helplessness of the situation. He was wailing in pain!I had no other alternative, than to end his life as swifly & painlessly as possible.I took my current EDC & severed his spinal cord at the neck...Just writing this brings back bad memories, but I'd rather put an animal out of it's misery, than let it die an agonizing death.

Yeah,I love Cats & Dogs..even the so called mean ones, because for the most part,it's the owner's fault for that.:thumbdn:

I've got a zero tolerance attitude for animal abusers.I've even been know to confront a person (or two) whipping the hell outa their dogs & asked them "How'd you feel if you were on the other end of that whip...I can arrange that" NO SHIT!IT happened!

Sorry,This is a bit of a touchy subject for me:grumpy:

I love Dogs and Cats and I OK with others feeling any way they want on the subject. My problem is when people get animals and then dispose of them 'cause their "not working out". :barf:
