Bumps on sharmaker stones

I have a Spyderco Sharpmaker; on both the med and fine grit stones there are a few very small bumps on the corners of the stones.
Could these be smoothed out by rubbing the stones together or will that just ding them up?
Anyone else have this problem, or any thoughts on a good way to fix them?

I thought I had bumps on my white triangle stone, just one of them. On closer inspection it is actually a small nick, or crater near the edge. It came that way. I have learned to live with it. The browns and ultrafines do not have this problem on my Sharpmaker.

My medium, fine and UF rods all have these little bumps or "hangs". I doubt they affect sharpening but what I do is just find the area on each of the stones that doesn't have bumps and use that.

Pretty much I only worry about it on the UF rods, and I only try to avoid it when I'm putting the finishing touches on the edge.

I've got bumps on one brown and one white stone, both on the corners. Been using it to sharpen and it doesn't seem to effect performance at all. The bumps don't seem to be going away after use.

I have the same little nicks on the corners of some of mine. They are very annoying, and I suspect they may be preventing me from getting a perfect edge. But there isn't really anything out there that does what the Sharpmaker does, so I guess I'm stuck with it unless I want to either give up sharpening recurves and serrations or pay hundreds of dollars for a sharpener.

years back spydie said some ceramic rods might come new with slight dings. they suggested you rub the rods lightly against each other to smooth them out.--dennis
