M16 - Spear Point Sold to 91XLT for being first to post an "I'll Take It" on this thread as per my best attempt at being fair and instructions listed.

-----------

Sorry for the slow reply. I am just now getting to my computer at almost 4:00 am and haven't been to bed yet.

Long day - long story - semi-emergency helping a friend.

Anyway, I must have apparently switched boxes a couple of years ago. I looked up the M16-14 which appears to be a larger tanto - that I used to have and sold. I must have shipped it in the wrong box a long time ago. - Ooops.

The names are too similar.

I "Think" from looking online, this must be the M16-13.

Anyway, it is the spear point as shown in the picture and has aluminum scales and no Lawks.

It is very sharp and opens and closes smooth.

So, the box I have says M16-14M - Military and appears to be the wrong box - Actually, probably the same box, but different sticker on the end of the box.

*** But, wait, there's more. The M16-14M box has a "1* CRKT" Patch in the box - no extra charge ;)

I received an email from somebody, but the name does not coincide with any of the forum names listed above. Email Replied to.

PM sent to 91XLT with Payment instructions.

Samuel,

Sorry for not getting back to you on this sooner, but as my above post mentioned, I was out of pocket till VERY late last night/this morning. I completely looked over your posted - Guess I was tired.

Anyway - You completely stumped me.

I can't find the type of steel ANYWHERE for this Pro-Guide II Series of knives.

It is not on the blade, not on the box and I can't find it with Google or Yahoo search. I have spent a lot of time searching. :(

I can tell you it is shaving sharp and easily shaves hairs.

If I had to guess based on how the edge feels, I would guess something like D2 or ATS-34.

Definitely stainless and seems to have a pretty hard edge.

This one for sale is the Drop Point.

I used to have another Skinner Pro-Guide II that I traded. It was used prior to me owning and the previous owner had put a very acute fine edge on it with some sort of flat grind jig. It was also VERY sharp, but I didn't really use it much and have sold it.
I don't recall the type of steel it had either.

The blade is 4.5" and about 9.375" oal.

To me, this knife reminds me a LOT of a Swamp Rat Dog Skinner I used to have. But, honestly, this Gerber's ergos fit my hand better.

This Gerber design and from what I can tell about the steel should be a good all-around carry design, trail/camp knife - Very versatile IMO.

Sorry I don't have all info, but hope that helps some.
