I have been consifering purchasing a German Military Surplus field knife, and I have been trying to find out how long the blade was, but I really can't get any info on that from the seller. He replied
The whole thing like I answered before.

Can somebody give me that info?

Also, the blade is marked HSK-70. Who was the contractor? I am assuming that this was made in 1970. Would I be correct?

I remember SMKW used to sell these, but I have not seen them in a while. What is the current price range.

I bought one in Germany when I was stationed there in the late 80's-early 90's at Rheinmain AB (next to Frankfurt). I believe mine was a herbertz made one, I think I paid around 20.00 for it new?

There are many contractors that have made these trench knives over the years. The one you mention I am not familar with it. The 70 would be the correct manufacture date (I believe?).

You can actually buy them from the sportsmans guide when they have them. Right now they are asking 19.99 for them. Here is the link:

Just be forewarned that when the Germans sell their surplus off, especially knives, they are usually well used.

Thanks. That link did a good job of answering my questions. I would buy it from SG if they would ship it to my state, for unknown reasons :(

Anyhow, the auction ends tomorrow, so I'll hopefully have it shortly, and with any luck at a lower price.
