I picked up a Bura 16.5" 29 ounce Chiruwa with finger grooves from Unnca Bill on 7/15. Here is the thread URL since I can't post pics.

This has become my favorite K. The finger grooves make all the difference in the world on how the knife handles. Also, it seems that the 16.5" size fits nicely between my 15" and 18" AK. Not too light and not too heavy. Bura did a great job on the knife - the finish, sharpness, and of course that great handle are excellent.

I've been carrying the Chiruwa everywhere at the farm and have used it quite a bit for limbing, brush work, and about everything in between. Even used it to help dress some small game. I'll grant you that squirrel paws aren't much of a challege but it was fun anyway. With bow season around the corner, I'll try it on the first deer I get.

If any of you get the opportunity to try a K with finger grooves, I think you will like it as much I do. If you already have a K with finger grooves, I'm interested in hearing your impressions to see if you feel the same.

hey there semper fi,
the finger groove grip has always interested me,as i figured it would give excellent control, and help to improve sideways twisting of grip, and forward movemant.
the main thing that worried me was the spacing of finger grooves as buras hand would be pretty samall compared to my larger grip. how do you find the size for you ect. regards ken:)

OH ALSO ANY CHANCE of an actual size paper copy of the handle with finger grooves.that you could send me by email ??
as i would like to attempt to duplicate,on one of my khuks, and would find a pattern to refer to most helpfull.:D

I like that! Would probably fit my hand, just right.

The knife fits me like a glove. I can't say that the finger grooves exactly fit but they are close enough that it is very comfortable and feels very secure to me.

As far as a paper pattern, I don't have the "techno" skills to do that. Someone else on the forum might be able to help you though.
