Well, my first triangular box from Reno arrived today carrying my first real khuk and I must say I am blown away. I snagged the 15" Bura Hanshee from the 5/22 DOTD and could not be more pleased. It weighs 19 oz and has a comfortable and really great looking kapur wood handle. Many thanks to Auntie Yangdu for speedy delivery and awesome products!

Here are some pics:

What a fine looking khukri! Good on you Dog. Now re-read the Safety thread before you damage yourself;)
I love the hanshees that Bura sometimes makes.

Nice wood on that kukri - looks like a prime candidate for some serious TruOil woodchuckery:)

I've got an 18" Bura hanshee myself, and it's one heck of a chopper- if I ever get the nerve to chop with it:rolleyes: (it's just too pretty to use yet). Right now I just occasionally sing it out of the scabbard and admire it, & chop a little "air timber."

You're gonna love it! Hanshees feel sooo right!

That looks great! I would swear that was neem, but Yangdu knows her woods. That is some great glossy burl there near the bolster. I am fortunate to have one of these with an osage orange handle that is very pretty, but this one is right up there and a cut above what you normally see. I agree that a nice oil finish on this would knock your eyes out. Congratulations on your new acquisition.

Thanks guys, I'm looking at some stuff to do to the handle, maybe spend monday giving it some TLC. Maybe before that I'll see if I can find some wood worthy of choppin. Right now its only seen some of them air logs Soupah's talkin about.:D

Before you do anything with the handle tape up the edge really well with a few layers of masking tape. Don't ask me how I learned that.

haha, definitely. this thing came pretty sharp, so every time i do anything with it i make sure to keep clear. thanks, bri.
