We called Nepal tonight to get the prayers of the kamis for my piddling little problems only to learn that Bura is in Bir Hosptipal with a brain tumor which requires surgery.

Do I have problems????????????

I've never asked for help but I'm doing it now while I still can. Bura's operation will cost about $5000 and we're going to foot the bill. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't ask for help but with things as they are I'm going to break my rule and ask that if you can send anything for Bura send it along. Just mark it "Bura Fund."

Sanu had taken over as BirGorkha foreman. Kumar is second in command.

This is more sickening to me than anything I have to put up with personally.

Anything you can do to help will come back to you tenfold or more.

Forgive my begging. I'm sicker and crazier than I should be.

Yep. Make checks payable to HI and marked "Bura Fund" -- otherwise Yangdu may be sending you a khukuri instead of wiring the money to Pala for Bura's hospital expenses.

Threes?? Let's hope the timing is enough to count for the "third". Sure ought to.

At least they can operate...sometimes they can't get to where they need to. Here's hoping/praying for a succesful procedure and a benign tumor. And a pass on that angiogram, too.

Sometimes subsequent info shows things aren't as bad as they first look.

Computers make my head hurt. Can anybody give me step-by-step instructions for making a contribution to Bura's fund through the shopping site without buying a khuk as well...?

Hope the following is helpful:

0. Keep creditcard ready
1. Go to the shopping site
2. Select one or more items equalling the amount you wish to donate
3. click "checkout"
4. Fill in the form as if it was a normal order
5. In the description area below on the form, write "FOR BURA"
6. Complete the order

That's all. Works perfect and easy to use.

Using the shopping site is painless and there is a broad range of items of various prices to pick from.

By God there is so much wrong that we can't change, let't do something about this.

what's the time line on donating for Bura? i can't work it today, but i think i can shake loose some bread in 3 or 4 days...is that going to cause problems for Yangdu when she wires the money? i hope the delay won't be an issue because i honestly can't think of a better use for this money.
