Whatever you want to call it, my first impression is, it's a nasty, bloodthirsty, weapon. It's already drawn blood. Nasty Viper is the name I'm calling it, as it gives no warning when it bites. Unlike the King Cobra, that rears up and at least gives some warning. The sharp point at the front of the cho bit me. This one feels like it wants to go to work in a battlefield. It feels lighter than my 20" Kumar Kobra. And faster too. As I don't have a scale, I couldn't be certain. I know it did a serious number on the box it came in. And scared the crap out of the people in the office where I work. I have all my packages shipped there, as my appartment doesn't have mailboxes large enough for most triangular boxes. Handle is solid horn, with no shrinkage or cracks. Also, no rings. It is smooth from bolster to buttplate. As it came, it was not that sharp, nothing that 10 min with my diamond hone and ceramic hone didn't fix. Seems the sweet spot is about where I expected, same place you would expect it on an AK. Center of balance is almost dead center between bolster and blade tip. Sword of Shiva is very well done, the brass bits hammered into it seem solid. I can get about 1 3/4 hands on the handle, so it could be used two handed pretty easily. I haven't had time to go out and try it on small branches and other stuff yet. But it's started residing beside my computer while I'm home. When I get my camera back, (Loaned to my daughter for a school project) I'll see if I can get some pics posted.

How long is the King?

sounds like a nasty beast to me!

No rings? interesting....

Dang, I knew I forgot something. OAL= 21 3/8 inches, narrowest part of blade= 1 1/8 inch, widest part of blade= 2 inches, spine at bolster= 3/8 of an inch, tapering to 5/16 of an inch at the bend, tapering to the point. Start of cho= 3/4 of an inch from hibake bolster, handle= 5 inches+ 1 inch of bolster, so 6 inches. No 3 points on the buttcap. Only the usual diamond keeper peened on.

I have pretty much the twin to yours, with some minor diffs in dimensions which is to be expected. Mine has the cho out a full inch, is 21.5" long, 2 1/4 inches at the widest point, but 1/16th thinner across the spine. Handle sounds identical.

A 20" Kumar Kobra will average about 21 or 22 oz. This new kobra weighs a full 27 ozs., but because of the blade design actually _does_ feel more balanced and lighter. Odd how that works, but it swings great in the hand. That is the only thing I have never liked about the Kobra's is the balance; every other slim bladed khuk, whether it be siru, or GS or Malla or chainpuri seems to have a better balance to it, but this one is a radical exception and in fairness should not be compared to it's namesake.

I agree that this one has "weapon" written all over it. I would like to see an 18" version and one with wood handle. Nice work by Bura!

Regards,

Norm
