It got here. And it looks good, but is it a WWII or something else altogether?

I'd say it's something else altogether. You can see the difference, you can feel the difference, it just doesn't show up on the tape measure. I'd call it a WWII Extra Deep. from spine to belly it feels a half inch deeper compared to my shop 1 WWII - but only shows up as 1/4" when measured.

Anyway, I like it.

Rusty, that pix did look deeper than most. I like the way it looks though. The more steel in the blade the more life the blade has!

It's kind of like comparing the bow of a sailboat to that of a tugboat. It is a cleaver, plain and simple. It's like the tip got shoved back a bit - there's a little curve to the point, but basically the belly curve has been brought forward so as long as you land the blow an inch or so back of the tip you're in the working zone. Feels like you can "throw" your swing to land with everything behind it.

I suspect this 16.5 WWII would do bout as well as a 15" AK or better. I can feel a kinship with Super Sally somewhere way back.
Even if it doesn't have the nimbleness of a fighter, one good chop ought to put an end to things.

Yvsa, know how the Hanuman/WWII special has such a powerful feel of strength and rightness? This has it too, just kinda different.
