A little over a year ago I was looking for something a little different to add to my collection. I’d just sold off a few knives to help take care of some incoming medical stuff but knew (at least prayed!) that a year or so down the road things would be running smoother. So my goal was to find something a little different, aka radical, to take up some of the empty space in my pocket and find a maker that was willing to take a custom order. In my search I started running across some stuff out of Michael Burch’s shop. The hamons on his blades and not to mention his blade styles really intrigued me. I found that he uses the IKBS system and makes flippers………hmmmm……big flippers! Then I opened his forum one day and found a thread with a new knife he’d made, he called it his “Scorched Earth Dao Flipper” and I just called it bad ass! Contacted him and ask if it was possible to get one made and luckily at that time he was still taking orders! Ask for one in a lefty configuration with stag scales. Fast forward a year and when the email came with a couple of pics I was immediately intrigued at what a little monster it looked like but I figured the camera angle was just making the knife look large. But when it arrived I have to admit I was really surprised and happy to find out that it really is that big! I love big ole tank like, overbuilt indestructible folders and this one does it and still has the class to make everyone who’s seen it to immediately ask me “where in the hell did you get that monster!” This thing rocks! With a blade out of W2 and a little over 4 1/2”, carbon steel bolsters and an overall length of 10” she’s a real handful. Most amazing is how smooth she is for her size. I’ve been asked twice now by friends who have handled her if it was an assisted opener. When I explained the IKBS system they were truly amazed that a blade that big and being non assisted could be that smooth. Being my fist folder with stag was a super bonus for me! Always wanted one. Already whipped it out in the kitchen and diced up some fresh chilies, garlic, tomatoes, onions and some cilantro for a batch of homemade salsa. Now Linda wants my “fancy” kitchen knife…..nice try honey. She’s a real user Michael, afraid this one isn’t going to be a safe queen! Thanks again for the opportunity to order one of your fantastic folders. If you ever decide to start taking orders again put me down for it’s right handed twin! Thanks for looking :D

Thank you Gus. Been an admirer of your work for a while now and as soon as able would like to contact you about the possibility of ordering a custom from you Sir ;)

Quite the Burch flipper you have there, Sir.....congrats to both of you on a job well done.

That is one of the nicest Buech knives I have seen. I have liked this particular design since the first day I saw one.

Even though I don't really carry knives with pocket clips anymore, I'd be glad to make an exception for that beauty. Congratulations.

James

Thank you everybody again:thumbup:

As wild as she looks the utilitarian uses offered are as unlimited as any folder. But she definitely has that "wow" factor your average pocket knife doesn't!
