prepare yourself. It's bad.

I've been wanting to do a railroad spike 'hawk for awhile - nothing fancy, just something to try out. Not only did I achieve the "nothing fancy" aspect, I even took it a few notches down. :)

I had a long week, so I needed to pound out some aggression and this is what came out -- there isn't any finish work done, and maybe two seconds of grinder time. One thing I learned is that I think I need a drift punch. I used a sharpened railroad spike to go through mine. ;)

The handle is built by Ace Hardware to my exact specs. :D

Needless to say, my respect for those of you making beautiful 'hawks has gone even higher.

I'm glad I wasnt drinking coffee. Not from the hawk but reading your post Michael :). It looks better than my first.

Now that's a spike hawk :)
I like how you left the spike head alone, it makes an interesting hammerpoll! Like a carpenter's hatchet.
