I can't wait to try it out...Sat I'm taking my Father Deer hunting (Blackpowder season opens) he had hip replacement a couple of months ago & still can't get around to good but he has not missed a season for as long as I can remember & I'll do what I can to get him in the woods ! I'll get pics & post them here & on W&SS !

Thanks 'Ol Bud...If not for my Dad then I would not be into Hunting & knives & Bushcraft, It's the least I can do for him:thumbup: & yes he still packs a "Big" blade when in the woods - Western W49 Bowie, I think 1978 is when he purchased it.

Looks like a good camp and hunting knife you're getting there C.D.

I had a W49 back in the early 80's ...I got it used. I never did get used to the huge brass guard but the blade geometry and birds beak handle made it one of the best choppers I've ever owned.
 
Nice knife! You will love it. I used mine to split some wood into kindling and it worked like a dream. Still sharp after...
