Recently an almost 20 year old thread has zombified which details the unearthing of a knife that Jerry buried in Minnesota in the 80’s.

I was very interested in this, so I looked back through the forum and found this:

(ignore the highlight, I just did it because Wyoming is my state)

Far as I can tell, the MN one is the only one that has been found.

I think it’d be pretty fun if we all started looking for them again, a country-wide game of hide and seek :D

What if some of them got paved over after 30 years ? I want in on the hunt for one buried in Missouri though lol.
Very good point, however the one in Minnesota was in the wilderness, and the one that Mr. Brown has claimed in Utah is in the wilderness as well

Hmm I'll take a guess and say it is somewhere in the Ozarks region. Lots of lakes and wilderness there. plus a Theme park that I am sure Jerry would of loved to visit.

There must be more information that was posted somewhere.....? Surely Jerry wouldn't just bury them and wait for someone to stumble across them . Also what is the objective of burying knives in 38 States?? There has to be a background story to this.

In a recent post by Jerry on the old thread, he says that there are knives in “Almost all 50” states and that the map was lost long ago.

But,

He did recollect the location of the Utah location for Mr. Brown, so he probably knows more than he’s letting on :D

I mean I just have some practical questions.

Was it part of a competition? Was it announced formally, and how? Was there a map, or riddles or clues provided? How did he even get to 50 States? Did he take 6 months off and drive around the country with a shovel? Would someone really drive thousands of miles and bury $25,000 worth if INFI and then leave them there for almost 40 years?

There is something fishy going on here. I think this is all part of Jerry's plan to get people to go outside and have fun.

Not entirely sure. From what information is available for me to read, these knives were buried between 1981-1989.

As far as why, I have no clue. From what I can see it was never formally announced (here at least, keep in mind this all happened long before BF existed) so I’m not sure about that one

I wonder how many may have been found. By someone not knowing what they found ?????
I’m in CT and most land is private property here. So leaves state parks , but I wouldn’t think my state is one on map.

There were several old threads years ago about one buried in a state park in Florida. IIRC searchers reported the general area was completely relandscaped.

The driving around the country part can probably be explained by the fact that Jerry doesn't fly. So when driving out to Blade West or the Vegas show of years ago, it was no big deal to make some detours.

He also hid Busse dog tags in odd places. They were marked with Shop Credit. One was found years after in an amusement park in CA.

Not surprised that happened in Florida, but I would imagine that if there are some in more “rural” states then they should be fine.

Like the one in my state, southern Wyoming, there hasn’t been hardly any development in outdoor areas since about the time they were buried.

I'm jealous! I'm in South Florida and all we have left is the Everglades and construction is encroaching on them further every day. I love the weather but the development and traffic drive me crazy!

All I can remember about Florida was a trail I walked that went around a number of springs. o_O:confused:

I buried one at the base of a tree by the second spring. Silver Springs maybe? Not sure if there is even a trail there!

I was cutting over from Tampa to the east coast. Not much help I suppose but it has been over 14 years since I hid one there.

A lot of scotch has passed through my memory since then!!!:confused::confused::confused::confused:o_Oo_Oo_O

I need to find that map!!!

Let's Drink!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I claim South Carolina if Jerry can remember some clues. Plenty of bourbon at hand to help jog that memory, but I’m sure I can find some good scotch it needed ;):D
