Which knife fits this category?

I own very few knives, as stated before in previous posts my favorite is a 1st generation Gayle Bradley CPM-M4 folder. But..... It's bulky and heavy to keep on my Camelbak when trail running, day hiking, or ultra light camping.

Is there a small fixed blade or a folder that will hold an edge like my GB, offer some ruggedness like say a Tops Black Rhino, come in cost effectively and most importantly not be bulky on the outside of my light pack such as a Camelbak.

I think you’re going to need to give in on one of your wishes. If a 5oz GB is too heavy, your not going to get the ruggedness of a 1 LB black rhino.

What weight range are you looking for?

Haha , I agree with this. Something's gotta give.

So , OP , what's the weight class here ?

OK ok ok, I'll give in on the weight if I have to.

Less bulky, smaller overall size, just as burly and rugged though.

Maybe I currently have the best tool for the job?!

Depeds on your definition of burly, but maybe one of the Spyderco Salts in serrated H1?

Light, fairly indestructible frn in black or yellow, duper tough and rustproof steel, crazy edge retention in SE, several models and sizes available under $100.

Sounds like you want a neck knife. I love my JRs knives Neckrs, plenty tough, beyond your budget. You probably don't want the scales on it either. Benchmade Altitude just came out, ticks most of your boxes, almost twice your budget.

But take a look around at neck knives with skelotonized handles. Should be able to find something plenty tough in your budget, assuming your not attached to stainless.

Sounds right. Maybe an Esse Izula?

No neck knives, i run hours at a time. Cant stand the bounce of the GB, nevermind a lanyard and knife bouncing/chafing

Strap the sheath to your camelback, dude.
The Becker in this price range, the number eludes me, would be another good candidate.

I'm having trouble getting past your statement that the Gayle Bradley 1 is bulky. For me it is one of the least bulky knives I own.

The only kind of knife I can think of that might meet your criteria is a small, tapered tang fixed blade. Tapered tangs should weigh less than an equivalent sized non-tapered tang.

Honestly, the first thing I thought of was a Mora. You'd be surprised how tough they are. $14 and under 3 oz.

Becker BK14 and BK11 are other options.

I've been impressed with my $55 Gerber STrongarm fixed blade. Weight is 8 oz or so but it's a solid, budget fixed blade.

Get a Brous Blades Silent Soldier neck knife in d2. Great light weight option with a ring based grip that allows you to bery comfortably hold such a compact knife.

Attach the sheath to your backpack.

Top left and bottom right knives are Silent Soldiers. They can be had for just under 100$

When I first say this thread I thought about what the say about nicer bicycles... There are three main things... 1) strong 2) light 3) cheap. You can have any combination of those three things as long as you only pick two lol. Meaning, if you want both strong and light you don't get it cheap. It's nice for us knife fanatics there are plenty of knives that would really fit all three categories.
