I've been buying knives like a drunken sailor lately. Not as many as in past years, but I've gotten quite a few over the past 6 or 7 months. I've had a great time getting Charlows, messing about with fixing up old slipjoints, and working on ordering my first true custom.
However, other than the Bose annual patterns, a few Great Easterns and maybe the Queen Schatt and Morgan scout knife, I am not wowed by anything out there. But, I have no problem trading new stuff, for or towards the oldies! I took a gander at my collection last night, and a growing portion of them are older than, or just as old as, me. I've got a fair amount of old timers. Voos/Vess?, Remingtons, Cases, Bokers, Imperials, Camillus'. More? Anyway, I have taken a real interest in the cutlery brands out there, from reading Knife World and other publications. I am looking for users, I don't want any shelf pieces or safe queens. Good snap and a blade that can take an edge. Something I wouldn't feel bad about tossing in my pocket and heading out the door.
So, can you name some brands? Whether the companies themselves, or the special lines for dealers/hardware stores etc. Pictures are of course welcome. Ten years old to a hundred and ten years old. The more obscure the better! The first person to post pics of any knives from their collection that were manufactured in the Baltimore area wins a prize, my choice.
