Burned out already? Time to take a look at vintage knives? Can we name some brands?

I've been buying knives like a drunken sailor lately. Not as many as in past years, but I've gotten quite a few over the past 6 or 7 months. I've had a great time getting Charlows, messing about with fixing up old slipjoints, and working on ordering my first true custom.

However, other than the Bose annual patterns, a few Great Easterns and maybe the Queen Schatt and Morgan scout knife, I am not wowed by anything out there. But, I have no problem trading new stuff, for or towards the oldies! I took a gander at my collection last night, and a growing portion of them are older than, or just as old as, me. I've got a fair amount of old timers. Voos/Vess?, Remingtons, Cases, Bokers, Imperials, Camillus'. More? Anyway, I have taken a real interest in the cutlery brands out there, from reading Knife World and other publications. I am looking for users, I don't want any shelf pieces or safe queens. Good snap and a blade that can take an edge. Something I wouldn't feel bad about tossing in my pocket and heading out the door.

So, can you name some brands? Whether the companies themselves, or the special lines for dealers/hardware stores etc. Pictures are of course welcome. Ten years old to a hundred and ten years old. The more obscure the better! The first person to post pics of any knives from their collection that were manufactured in the Baltimore area wins a prize, my choice.

How about a New York Knife Company Hammer Brand, made in Walden, NY, circa 1880-1930?

New York Knife, EC Simmons Keen Kutter and Joseph Rodgers are 3 of my favorites. Cattaraugus, Schrade Cut Co are a couple more interesting ones. Sooooo many!

I have an obscure brand, made around 90 years ago, but its in my car, and I'm in the ER, getting admitted for heart stuff. I'll have my wife go grab it so I can post it.

Found a picture I had on my phone. Lennox Cutlery company. Ebony covers and bear trap springs. Half stops on both blades. It is a great piece and one I carry most often. Takes a killer edge.

Some really nice old timers! Medic, I hope everything works out. Don't worry about this place, get yourself taken care of! Heart bs is not fun at all!

Consider collecting older Queen knives. Highly collectible and all would be fine for EDC.

Sorry I don't have any Baltimore-made knives in my collection, but I did find this while digging through the garage earlier. Thought you might enjoy...

Pal Cutlery comes to mind. Seems like they were a common brand back when, but I don't see them mentioned often in the forums.

However, other than the Bose annual patterns, a few Great Easterns and maybe the Queen Schatt and Morgan scout knife, I am not wowed by anything out there.

The Queen City knife I recently purchased would absolutely 'Wow' you.
