Burnside Carmen?

Who has experience with Burnside knives? Particularly the Carmen? I was thinking about picking one up as I don't have very many small folders, and I'm digging the design as it looks like a solid little choice; Hitachi d2, compound bland, but while sites I see selling it all say the country of origin is the US, (or nothing at all), I'm hesitant to believe they are truly made here looking at the stamping on the blades, and the fact that bladeHQ's company description says they do have overseas (and US) manufacturing. When the blade says "designed in PDX" (portland), but not "Made in" from any pictures I can find, I get a slight "Hoback" vibe here. Can anyone fill me in with more clear cut info on them? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, no experience the brand or knife but Knifecenter list the country of origin as Taiwan.
Appreciate that. Knifecenter doesn't have the Carmen model though. I know some of their other knives are made in Taiwan, but BladeHQ lists the Carmen country of origin as USA, which at $90 seems like a decent deal, (but BHQ has dropped the ball on origins before). They do list the Cabrillo model as Taiwan in origin, but an s35v model is listed as USA, as is the Carmen (and Rose) models, so I was just curious if anyone had any direct knowledge.

I'll shoot them an email directly and see what they respond with. Even Taiwan would be OK. I just try to avoid PRC made knives and simply won't pay >$50 for one.

Yeah, I understand the need for manufacturers to be price competitive but if you offshore some of your product at least be honest about it. Kershaw has both USA made and PRC made knives but when you visit their website, it tells you which models are made in the USA. I'll admit that although I try to avoid PRC made knives, I have a couple WE (surprisingly well made) and a super cheap six leaf that is pretty stout, just too heavy. I only bought them to see what's coming out of china lately, normally I avoid their stuff on principle as much as possible. If you get any info. from Burnside, I'd appreciate a reply here. Thanks!

I own three Burnside knives, the Cabrillo II in S35VN, the Rose in VG10, and the Amigo in 14C28N.
I don't believe any of them are made in the U.S.A. - They do use the moniker "designed" in Portland Ore.
The prices are about what you would expect for foreign production knives of said materials.
Any questions let me know.

Well, I'm over it... Their website doesn't have a contact email listed, just an address, and I don't like the knife enough to go through that much trouble just to contact them. Nor do I like it enough to pay $90 for a 2.5" d2 blade made overseas, knowing that I can pick up a d2 rat or zancudo or dozier made in Taiwan for significantly less, and know what I'm getting from a well known company.
