richstag has been picked as the winner via the random number generator random.org ***Congratulations richstag!!!***
I have decided that it is now my turn to give back to the members that make this place my favorite spot on the internet. The generosity that exists in our little community here in the traditional forums makes this place very special and unique. It's unlike anywhere else that I have frequented on the internet over the years, and I would like to take the time to contribute and give back to this generous community.
As my first give away here in the traditional forums (or anywhere), I will be giving away my GEC Redneck Bullnose with black handles. This knife is a little unique in that it sports the "Redneck" stamp on the pivot yet it has the black handles. It is my understanding that the 'Rednecks' were done with orange handles. I believe that this might have been made during the transition between the first run or two and the redneck run of the Bullnose.
I have never sharpened the knife, and only very lightly used it a few times to open up boxes and packages in the mail. I forced a patina on it using lime and lemons so it has a distinctive pattern on the blade. I dropped it one time from about knee height to my shop's concrete floor which resulted in a few tiny scuff marks which I buffed out with some fine steel wool. The fine steel wool took care of most of the scuff marks and added a grippier matte finish to the handle. The blade is centered and has no blade play open or closed. Very good snap when opening and closing and the pull is about a 5 or 6. It comes with the tube and parchment paper (The tube is, I believe, is also from the 1st run of these knives but I'm not sure about that).
Rules:
-Please have at least 10 or so posts in the traditional forums if you want to enter for a chance to win this knife.
-Post "I'm in", and if you would like to, include a photo of either your favorite pet or of any kind of animal (wild or domestic) that you are very fond of. The photo does not have to be your own. (I thought I would try something different than the usual 'post your favorite knife' GAWs).
I will use a random number generator and I will use your first post's number as your entry.
I will run this give away until Midnight on Sunday the 23rd (also known as 12AM Monday the 24th).
I will take and add photos of the knife in it's current state by tomorrow morning.
Photos: I noticed that there is a little bit of orange oxidization starting to happen, but I think it can be easily removed. I put a heavy patina on it a few weeks ago using lemons, limes, and oranges...
