I've been buying and selling knives non-stop for about 3 years and I'm about burnt out. I've satisfied all my urges and cravings...

Tac Folders.
Fixed.
Autos.
Butterflies.

Granted, I've kept it under around $250 for a knife (unless I was trading) or so because that's the MOST my budget can give. (Usually, I'm talking about $100)

I'm fresh out of fetishes. I don't have a craving right now. I'm satisfied with what I have (save for one fixed blade I'm about to buy) and can't think of a single thing I'm just dieing to buy right now.

I've never been here before! Is this knife burnout? Should I leap from a tall building now?

I need inspiration. I need some knives to look forward to.

I'm uninspired. What ever should I do?

But, you can always sell me all your knives for a dollar and start all over again.

When I run into your problem, I go into collecting numbers of the same knife, or the same knives in different blade, or color combinations.

Or, you can get into guns, flashlights, watches, or anything else...

one of my passions are military backpacks, rucksacks and patrol packs from all over the world. Many times, this requires travelling to different parts of the world, so that may get costly, but a lot of fun.

I would say none of the above. Even kidding about killing ones self is poor. If your burnt out take a break, find another hobie ect. If you really fell the need to jump off a bridge or eat a bullet seek help from a professional.

Buying, selling & trading? Try designing your own knife/knives & work with a knifemaker to bring all your ideas together. Nothing like seeing your own idea become a reality! It ain't cheap but satisfaction is immense.:D

ps - Don't do anything rash!!!!

This is a poor poll. Not even funny in the least espically with this season having the highest suicide rate of any holiday in the world. I would definetly seek professional help. I mean if you are depressed over freaking knives etc. you need to see someone in a professional capacity. It isn't a joking matter in the least. My advice is see a professional.

what about slip joints? traditional folders. Get back to the basics and quit yer whining. :p

I'm fairly certain he was joking. Calm down people.

I guess that if you're burnt out on production knives then customs are the only place to go. Or maybe geta Sebenza. People seem to develop a major fixation for Sebenzas.

Start over by consolidating. If you have 20 $100 knives sell them and buy 6 or 7 $300 knives. That will give you something to work towards,,and surely there are some knives in that price range you'd like to have.

Just take a break, the hobby will find a way to suck you back in when it's time:). I do it all the time.

Amen, brother!

What are you reading lately, on Bladeforums, I mean? If you spend all your time on the Exchange forums, sure you'll spend your money there.

Try Tactics & Training for awhile, and get into maybe new uses for the knives you've got. Move into Community for relaxation.

It won't be long ... a lock will snap into place, a picture in a magazine ad ... you're too young to burn out!

Here is your road to happiness:
Sell most of your $100-200 knives. Keep one or two that you are most attached to.

Buy ONE high quality knife. If you are into folders get something from Carson, Mayo, or Obenauf (among many other fine makers).

Marvel at the difference compared to the stuff you are used to.

Get of the buy-and-sell merry-go-round and enjoy BladeForums as a community, not a market place.

YMMV

Get drunk...Get blind-drunk on wine, beer, whiskey, AND vodka. When you wake-up the next morning with the worst hang-over known to man, you will forget that you are burnt-out with your knife hobby.:D.:D.

Take a break and try high end single malt scotches and fine steaks.

Im trying to slack off on knives a little, and starting on pens. I especially like the retro 51's.

or like siverfox knows said, try guns, flashlights, watches etc.

Guns and with guns comes major cool mods like flashlights, scopes, red dot sights, pre-ban high cap. magazines...*shudder*

Do you have a combat shotgun? Here's mine. The light is a mini-mag because I didn't have the $$$ to afford an $80-100 SureFire, so it's better than nothing....and a red Infinity LED for sh*ts and giggles;)

Warthog

JUMP!

And since you won't be needing your knife collection anymore . . . I'll put them to good use.:D
