I think I have a new favorite knife. My wonderful fiancee, when she found out that I had lost my beloved harness jack, gave me this beauty for a Christmas present. It's a Northfield Big Jack with burnt stag scales. It's a good-sized knife at a little over 4" in the closed position. I like my slippies a little on the large size, so I think it's just about perfect.
This knife is downright gorgeous. The stag is nicely figured and well matched, although the back scale is a little thin on the edge. I guess that's part of the price we have to pay for wanting natural materials. Everything is fit about as perfectly as you can expect from a production slipjoint. All surfaces are nice and flush, and I can't find a single gap anywhere. Both backsprings are flush with the liners in the open and closed positions, although they do stick up a little when the knife is at half-stop. There is no wiggle at all in either blade, and the blades are as well ground as I could ask for. The knife is not that sharp (big surprise), but at least Northfield ground it to a thin edge. I expect the 1095 blades to get scarily sharp.
Enough rambling for now. Here are some quick pictures I took, sorry for the poor quality.
