Burnt stag questions?

What is the burnt stag used by GEC and Northwood knives? Is there any issues with it on an EDC type of knife? Cracking issues, shrinking issues or chipping issues?

Stag, whether burnt or otherwise, is among the toughest of natural materials. Chips less than bone, shrinks less than horn, and dents less than wood.
