Any of y'all use the small wheel attachment for the Burr King 960? How easy is it to install and remove? Anyone got one they want to sell or trade?

Yes I have one. It does a good job but doesnt stick out there as far as a Bader 3. To use it means both wheels need to come off and the platen is replaced with the small wheel arm, then the 5" wheels go back on. It really only takes a minute unless you are like me and cant find the parts under the pile of used belts. I havent used it since I bought the 1/4 hp Foredom. Dont want to sell it though.

Are there two versions of the small wheel kit? Mine fits on the knife maker attachment in place of the two inch wheel. If you don't have the knife maker attachment isn't there a different set up (not sure).

RA,
I thought all I had to do was replace the 2" wheel on my knifemaker attachment. The people at Tru Grit told me I had to buy 2 attachments and the wheel totalling about $140. I dunno, I just though it was a matter of replacing the upper wheel. Someone correct me please.

Will, Mine came with a standard 1/4" chuck and a couple undersized collets. You can buy a huge variety of wheels and buffers ect. for them. I usually just finish on a variable speed dremel with cratex.

There is a shortcut I found in the late Bob Engnath's catalog. Put the two inch wheel where the idler was. Put the small wheel holder yoke where the two inch wheel was (and snap in the wheel of your choice). Rotate the arm forward to tighten it up.
The folks at Tru Grit are great to deal with, and it sounds as though they were recommending the official Burr-King set up, which makes sense if only to make certain it works. You might ask them about the set up Bob Engnath used as I believe they knew him well.

RA,
Thanks for the reminder, I went back to Bob's site and reread that portion. I don't know how many times I've read it and it never "hit" me.

Can't blame Tru Grit for telling me the official line liability being what it is. Perhaps they'll help me out (against their better intentions).

Thanks again.
