Hi , I have done as suggested by a few forum members
and went to the strop after 400 grit (about 100 knives).
I find that it is much more difficult to get rid of THE BURR
at 320,400. I have gone into the edge (blade leading)lightly for
best results. But I still have to use a lot of pressure on nonbacked
part of strop to get rid of the burr.
Suggestions any one? (for belt sander)

A leather strop with green compound is the only way I've ever been able to remove a burr.

Based on suggestions from others here, I've been able to remove/reduce stubborn burrs by drawing the full length of the cutting edge through a piece of hardwood (as if trying to slice through it). Also seen the same technique recommended for use with a piece of hard felt, or a piece of thick, stiff leather. After that, go back to stropping on leather with compound (I use green).

I've also been able to remove burrs on a medium/fine ceramic stone, using light pressure (too heavy will create a burr).

Sometimes the burr can be reduced by progressively lightening your pressure (to VERY light) on the same stone. In effect, this helps to grind the burr away without pushing it (flipping it) to the other side.
