Hi Guys,
Sorry to keep bothering you with simple questionsbut you have yhe only answers. My next question is how do you get rid of these pesky burrs which I have had trouble with all my life. This had stopped my from getting a really sharp knife !

I have an Alinger which works really Great but still the burr . Could someone Please tell me the simplest way to rid my blades of these drdreaded burrs without ruining my already so so sharp blade.

Thanks fo all replys,
Eric

1. Use the lightest strokes possible when finishing an edge.

2. Use very high RC steels.

3. Keep a consistent angle, don't raise the knife too much as this is an easy way to raise a strong burr.

4. Use short strokes. By this I mean if you normally use an 8 inch stone to sharpen a knife, only use half of it or 1/3 of it as you're finishing. Short strokes + light pressure is a great combo for fine edges.

Can you elaborate on this? I've heard it before, but never gave it a serious try.
