this rather unusual integral hunting knife arrived yesterday. it combines two materials, that you don't see too often in a single knife: exciting twisted w-pattern damascus (O1/15N20) and a black micarta handle. oal is 11 inches. fit and finish are flawless. really!

about the name (in burt's words): "The name I was thinking of for the knife was "Beauty and the Beast." I was thinking of the contrast between the two materials, and each individual can make up his own mind as to which is beauty and which is the beast. Many would say that the obvious answer is the damascus is beauty and the tactical micarta is the beast. However, the micarta is solid, smooth, regular and predictable, where the steel is random, unpredicatable and dangerous, so it could really be the other way..."

enough said, here are the pictures:

Burt's work is superb - no surprises here. Love the damascus pattern. Thanks for sharing the pics!

very very nice!!!!!!! I agree,,,the integral is awesome. I think the dark wood complements the blade.

Although I'd hate to contribute to Burt's already large head, I do have to say that I love his work. This knife is exceptional, and I have found myself a new desktop background. ;) :)

Most people seem to cringe at synthetics joined with forged blades, especially damascus, but I think there's some synergy here that just works.

Great job Burt! :D
