I just received my Bowie from Burt Foster. We hashed out this design last year, and came up with this pleasing fighter Bowie. 10" W2 blade, wrought iron guard and bolster, and a sheep's horn handle. The tang is hidden. The detail on the horn is incredible. The sheath is ostrich quill inlay. I'm very happy with this knife. Burt does a great job, and is great to deal with.

Awesome piece . Congrats :D .

Seems to be some real, clean workmanship.

I especially like the guard and the look of the sheep's horn.

Is it a frame construction or are the sheep's scales pinned directly on each other ?

Thats one of the nicest sheepshorn bowies Ive ever seen, the temper line is a bit Foggish, which means of course, awesome!

That is a first class bowie in all respects. Love the design. I'm not always a sheephorn fan but it looks good here. And it will give you a good grip even when you have drooled all over the knife yet again. ;) Wrought iron was a terrific choice for the fittings - love that elongated S-guard. Congrats to you on your purchase and to Burt on another excellent knife.

Wow! I feel like I gotta smoke a cigarette after viewing that! ;) I like everything about this bowie.... I'd really like to see a pic of the sheath too. (hint hint)
congrats on your new bowie.

Just another echo here; and a second on posting a pic of the sheath!
Beautiful all around!

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

I must say, that's about as nice as a Bowie gets........absolutely stunning!

Where's ol' Danbo? He'll flip out over this one....... ;)

Congrats on a fantastic piece of work........to you and Mr. Foster, BRAVO!!!

Damn near perfection IMO. While not a big fan of "S" guards, that is one of the best I've seen. It adds to the package and actually looks like it belongs there rather than being the focus of attention. Nice choice of materials and design, they compliment each other very well. And of course I must agree, Burt is just one heck of a nice guy.

They are pinned to each other- no tang is visible. I'd have to ask Burt to be sure though.

Thanks guys. This is my first fully custom knife that wasn't just a model with different scales, etc. I'm very impressed with Burt's work and it was definitely worth the wait.
In a few months I'll hopefully have a rainbow quench Bush Bowie with a ring pommel (like a Chinese sword) from Tai Goo to show yas...
I'll try to post photos of the sheath Friday. When I got home, it was already dark and I don't have good lights for photography.

That's one of the nicest bowies I have seen. I love C-Guards and W-2 is a great steel. That long clip gives the knife real eye appeal. I would love to see the sheath as well.

Sorry it took me so long to get here. I was flipped out, and couldn't get up. :D

Burt has done it again. This has got to be one of the sweetest bowies ever; and I don't even like sheephorn all that much either. It sure looks great on this one though.

The dimensions, the styling, the materials, and the workmanship all add up to a larger sum overall. Wow.

OK, you got my attention. How the hell is this knife floating in the air....? :D

Okay, it's Friday -- so where's the sheath pics ;)
Just alittle different than some of the previous posts - I like sheepshorn, I like the looks of the big sweeping guards, I like wrought iron, and I like mortised tangs ---- but I've never seen all of them put together so beautifully.
Classic, except maybe for the fact that the old timers probably wouldn't have thought to use sheepshorn (keep it glycerined !)

Two sheath photos:

Obviously my photo skills are nowhere near perfect, but the sheath came out okay!
It's snug and has two carry loops, one canted for crossdraw, the other standard for strong side.

I emailed Burt, the ferrule and guard are actually damascus. The tang is mortised. The wrought iron didn't work out- he wasn't satisfied with it. The damascus looks great to me though. :)
