Greetings all,

Fellow forum member Tin asked me to post this terrific camp set that he has just received from Burt Foster.

The details are as follows:

Forged, clay hardened W-2 blades with 'flocked" hamon
Mosaic damascus bolsters (01/15N20)
Stabilized spalted maple handles with domed nickel silver pins

And the set:

I hope Tin will add his impressions, but it sure looks like a super-nice set to me.

puffy clouds!:D
What a great looking set of knives:thumbup: Love those pins.

Burt is one of my favorite makers and that set is a good example why!

I can't afford to pay attention much less afford two great knives like those!

Good for you Tin.

I really admire Burt's work and those are a great example. Congratulations on those beauties.

Oh man, those are gorgeous. I'm a sucker for sets, and this one is really worth drooling over!

Congrats Tin! A drop-dead gorgeous set
How does it feel in hand, Tin?

Thanks for showing, Tin and Roger :D

Great camp set, for sure! From the 'flocked' hamons to the great leather, I like what I see. Would love to see those first hand. Congrats, Tin!

I'm a big fan of "knife sets" and this is about as good as a camp set could be

That is a very nice set I love the way Burt does the domed pins and the look they give the knife.

Thanks again, Roger, for the help with the picture.

Burt's photo is really nice, but the knives are much more beautiful in person. The handles are contoured, and the wood scales are both darker and lighter in real life. The scales for both knives came from the same wood block, and the wood grain flow from one side to the other. Burt also added very thin black liners -a nice subtle touch.

This is a great set - good enough for camping, cooking, or fending off the home invader :)

This isn't my first purchase from Burt, and while I'm always most excited about the knives, I'm also always blown away by his sheaths - they are like the side dishes that threaten to outshine the main course.

My impression isn't as important as my wife's, who told me to get back on Burt's waiting list again. By the way, Burt is a funny guy. His idea of a progress report is, "The knives are finished."

Thank you for the comments. They really add to my enjoyment of the knives.
